After having completed the long dining table, I received another request for a large table base. This one will be 20′ long, 4′ wide, and 3′-6″ tall. It is massive, and will be a challenge to build in my shop. Here are the first pictures of the process!
-
Cutting the 24′ long tubing into smaller pieces. -
After cutting all the parts. -
Starting to make the plates for the leg levelers. -
I use flange nuts for this application. -
One of the legs with another piece of tubing inside to set the correct height for the plates. -
After tapping the plate in place with a hammer, ready for welding. -
All welded! -
Cutting some bigger holes into some frame rails. -
Starting to weld the center leg sections together. -
Another view! -
Finish welding all the joints. -
A closeup! -
Welding the outside leg frames together. -
A view from the other side! -
At the bottom of the frame is a little support edge welded in place to hold the weight of the corian quartz surface. -
Another view! -
With one of the leveler legs in place to check on clearances. -
Some tabs and support angles welded in place on the inside of the frames to support removable panels. -
