My friend Ed asked if I could fabricate some brackets to mount a sign to the exterior of a building. This was a great opportunity to make them out of aluminum and TIG weld them, which I have not done for quite some time. Here are the pictures!
The sign was delivered by a courier to my shop.
The brackets need to fit the existing holes in the back of the sign.
I had some 1/2″ plate and rectangular tubing at the shop to get started.
It was a lot of fun to work with aluminum to cut and drill, and TIG weld!
Another view!
The brackets mounted to the back of the sign.
The sign was picked up on Wednesday and installed the same day.
Another closeup of one of the brackets.
Fits like a glove!
A little paint will make this crossbeam disappear in the future!
