Today I delivered my scrap metal dumpster to the scap yard to get rid of all the sheet metal scraps. I had no idea about the abuse my little dumpster would have to endure by their hands! The chain locks that lasted for the last three times, gave it up after this time. I had to replace them with something a little stronger. Here is what I did to have a hopefully permanent fix!
Here are the old ones, bent and twisted. 12ga mild steel can only take that much!
Cut 2 new ones out of 1/4″ plate. Let’s see how long these will last!
Taking the oxy acetylene torch to heat it up and bend it with a long pipe!
Clamped the second one right next to it, to have them look the same. Still red hot!
Here they are, ready to be welded back on the dumpster.
Welded in place!
Done and ready for the next time!
Another picture of the backside of the whole dumpster! When its filled up, it’s pretty heavy!
