After having the cart built, I was able to fabricate the catch basin, and here are some pictures of the process. Enjoy!
Here is the first piece of the catch basin. Its a bracket to lift the whole thing off the welding table and on to the cart. The two pieces are slotted and slide inside each other.
Starting to tack weld the first side panel to the bottom of the catch basin.
Working my way around the table tacking the pieces together.
My gantry crane makes lifting and turning the piece easy.
Getting ready to tack weld the last piece in place.
I’m able to use the gantry crane to straighten out the sagging center of the bottom by lifting it up until it lines up with my straight edge.
Nice and flat now!
This made tack welding the last piece in place very easy. Everything lined up nicely!
To drain the catch basin, I purchased a garbage disposal trim ring and stopper for a kitchen sink. Getting ready for welding.
Welded in place!
A view from the top.
The lifting bracket welded inside and in the center of the basin.
Using my lifting beam on the forklift the first time.
Getting the basin off the welding table. Works like a charm!
The basin placed in the cart and ready for service.
Another picture! I’m ready to change to water in my plasma table at any time now! 🙂
