Today my jib crane has arrived! I was so excited that I went back to the shop to fabricate some parts that will allow me to mount the crane to the sheet matal rack.
Here are all the parts of the crane after getting it off the crate. All was there, except for the bolts! It took me a little to get all the grade 8 bolts that I needed!
Layout for two plates I need for the bolts to be inserted into the corner post., This will allow me to bolt on the jib crane brackets.
Luckily I had a step bit for 3/4″ holes.
Cutting the plates to size after drilling on my bandsaw.
Getting the bolts ready to be welded to the plates.
Dry run from the outside!
Here is my little setup to lower the bolt plate down the inside of the corner post.
Into the deep it goes!
Here they are, poking through just enough to get started!
With a little wiggle and jiggle, and the help of some nuts, I had them all the way through!
First bracket mounted!
Here are both brackets installed. Enough for today! I need help to get the jib crane in place. 296 lbs. is more than I can handle! I need that forklift! 🙂
