Our old dining table has served us well for over 20 years, but it shows its age, and it is time for a new look! Here are some pictures showing how this new dining table base is taking shape. Enjoy!
-
After cutting the pieces for the tapered legs on my plasma table, I started to tack weld them together. -
I clamped the pieces to a piece of square tubing, that rested on little V-blocks. -
Here is a picture of how I held the tapered legs in place to weld on the top portion. -
The table legs are ready. You can see the table frame already in the works in the background. -
The table base is assembled ad sitting on the floor. -
It gives me a chance to take a closer look at some areas, and how to potentially dress them up a bit. -
Here is the upgraded version! -
I added some corner straps for a more industrial look. -
They are fastened to the frame with carriage bolts. -
A little 6L logo on both long sides of the table. -
Starting to apply some finish. -
This will creat a nice blend of all the pieces together. -
Another closeup! Tommorrow I will rub some of the finish off to give it a more aged appearance.
