Here are some more pictures about the process of finishing this table base. Ken is coming on Monday to pick it up and to continue to work on the finish of these wonderful burl pieces. While he is working on the top, the table base will be prepped and eventually nickel plated.

I fabricated some mounting plates for the legs and welded them into the frame. -
Top view with the legs bolted in place. -
Another view! -
Flipped the frame over and supported the other end with a frame and some shims to get it all level. -
After measuring the final height, I was able to cut the 3/4″ steel panel to size. -
I love the cut quality of my Hypertherm plasma unit! -
Finish grinding and easing all the edges. -
Little leg details at the bottom of the plate. -
Checking the finished height, and it all checks out! -
Another view. -
I’m using my magnetic drill to mark the hole locations for the bolts. -
Drilling the holes on my little mill drill. I had to remove the vise to be able to put the plate down. -
I started the bottom tapping bit with the mill drill, and did the rest by hand. -
The frame is bolted to the plate. -
Everything is nice and square. -
Set up on my welding table. This base is heavy! -
Another view! -
I put the burl pieces on the frame to check how it all fits together. -
Another view! -
And another one! -
Done and ready for pickup!
