After the design for the display was approved last Friday, I ordered material as soon as possible to get going. There is a lot that needs to get done in 10 working days to get everything ready for powder coating. I had a chance to pick up some material Tuesday morning, and more was delivered in the afternoon. I started to cut the 24′ longs quare tubing right away to get my space back in the shop. Here are some pictures of what happend so far over the last two and a half days.
Here are just a few of the pieces of material I picked up in the morning. 24′ tubing takes up a lot of space in my little shop.
To miter cut multiple pieces to the exact same length, I made a simple stop to capture one end of the tube.
Here is another view. It worked like a charm, and all the pieces turned out with the exact lengths I needed.
Here are a lot of the tubing pieces ready to be welded.
Welding some weld nuts in place for leg levelers.
Tack welding bench support frames. My welding fixtures hold everything nice and square.
Finish welding the support frames.
Ready for finish grinding!
After grinding! On to the next piece!
This frame will surround and protect the edges of a mirror panel.
Welding some of the pieces in place.
One of the corners.
The mirror frame is ready to go!
After welding all the frames for a case. some plates had to be welded to the bottom. Here is one at the end!
Here is one in the middle.
Here are all the frames for the case bolted together. High gloss panels will cover the frames, and will be held in place by strong earth magnets.
Here are just some frame details. The inside of a corner.
And another one. This portion is also ready for powder coating, and will be finished first, so that the cabinet shop has enough time to fit all the panels and the top.
