I was asked to develop a solution to hang and display a knitted piece of fabric, which is approximately 11′ wide and 10′ tall. After disussing several options, I started to fabricate the different components to get them ready for powder coating. Here are the pics!
Here are the horizontal hanging rails to be mounted to the wall. 2 pieces of 3/8″ and 1/8″ flat stock welded together and predrilled for the wall stud locations.
I cut some hooks on my plasma table to receive the display frame, which is made from 1″ round tubing.
Tack welding the hooks to the vertical hanging rails.
There are three vertical hanging rails, each with a hook at the top.
There are also hooks in the center.
And the hooks at the bottom of the vertical hanging rails.
Here is a picture of the corner detail of the display frame.
Here are the individuall display frame components ready for assembly.
The pieces are secured with bolts, to make sure they do’nt come apart.
All the pieces are ready to be shipped to the powder coating company JIT in Farmington!
