After having all the little components finished, it was time to get started on the vertical wall standards. Before I could do any welding, I had a lot of holes to drill. Here are some pictures!
Marking the location of the holes I needed to drill.
Drilling the pilot holes. The 12′ lenght of the tubes makes it a little cumbersome!
These are 1/4″ pilot holes that go all the way through the tubing.
Drilling 1 1/4″ holes with my magnetic drill into the face, so I can use a wrench to fasten the bolts.
The finished hole, with the back hole drilled out to 3/8″ size.
All the holes are drilled, and I’m ready to start welding!
Here are the adjuster plates welded to the back of the tube.
Here is a picture of the whole setup.
After having welded all the adjuster plates, I welded the base plates in place.
The first bead! I was drenched as I was welding all day!
