Here is a little more on the curved section of the wheelchair ramp! I was able to get the side skirts welded in place. The outside was fairly easy, but the inside skirt was a little more work to get it into the right shape. Luckily I have a roll bender to get this 10ga piece to fit nicely! Here are some pics to show the process!
It’s getting way too heavy to move it around by hand!
The forklift makes it a lot easier and safer to do.
Here is the piece, clamped to the side of my welding table, to get the outside skirt in place.
I clamped it in place, and it followed the shape perfectly, thanks to my AutoCAD layout!
Welded to the outside!
I flipped it around and picked it up with the forklift to weld the inside.
It’s nice to be welding in a comfortable position!
Here is the inside skirt before shaping. I tried to hammer it over the steel pipe, but resorted to my roll bender. Much easier and more consistent!
My friend Rob helped me run it through the bender and clamping it in place before welding. After a little trimming, it was ready to go!
The same proceedure for getting it into a comfortable welding position!
