After I had completed the pallet for the water tank, I started working on the stand. The goal was to elevate the tank, which would allow to fill and replenish my water table without a lot of effort. Because of the dry air in the Winter, I loose a lot of water during cutting. The abillity to keep the water level more consistent in my table will cut back smoke during cutting, and will keep air quality up in the shop! Here are pictures to show the process of building the stand.
All the parts are cut and ready to go!
I love these Walter Flex Cut discs to remove mill scale for welding prep. Nothing works like these!
Getting setup to weld the plates to the legs.
Another view! Did I ever mention how great those stronghand fixtures are!
All plates welded!
I forgot to take pictures of welding the top frame together, but here go the legs! I used my magnetic levels to ensure those legs didn’t move on me during welding.
Taking the stand off the table for the next step.
Welding horizontal frame members in place for added strength.
Done! And back up onto the table! Couldn’t do it without a forklift so easily!
Fitting and welding all the braces to sopport the top frame.
All braces welded in place!
Off the table for the last time!
I’m glad that I haven’t sold my gantry crane! It came in real handy to flip the frame over!
Laying it face down!
Lifting it up to a certain point with the forklift!
And letting it down nice and easy with the gantry crane. Done!
Moving it around in the shop and getting it in place!
To be close to the plasma table and to be space efficient I designed the stand to allow the scrap metal dumpster to sit underneath the water storage tank.
Everything in place and ready to go! I’m really happy how it turned out!
