As I continue working on the dining table, here are some progress pictures of fabricating the first table base.
Drilling pilot holes into the center tubes.
These center tubes will receive a connecting walnut beam in the end, which will be held in place by bolts going into those holes.
Starting to tack weld the face plates to the center tube after cutting them on the plasma table.
Second face plate tacked in place!
Standing it up as is for now!
The top plate is not welded in place, just sitting on top for a visual.
I cut some 16ga strips of steel to fill in the sides. First one tacked in place!
Working my way around this table base, bending and welding as I go!
Next step is finish welding and grinding.
Same thing, just working my way around to get it done and looking good.
All done to this point, standing up.
Another view!
Tackwelding the top plate to the tablke base.
Checking with a level that everything stays nice and square while I’m welding.
Cutting the base plates on my CNC plasma table. I have the pieces cool down a little before continuing.
Base plates welded in place! Everything is done and looking good!
Another view! Now I have to go through the same process one more time for the other one!
