Today I continued working on the swivel frames and was able to complete this project after a little more welding. I’m happy with how everything turned out. Next Monday the frames will be picked up and deliveredĀ to the cabinetshop to be integrated into the custom bookcases. Here are the pics of Day 3!
Getting ready to weld the first base plate to the bottom of frame #1.
I used a shim to make sure everuthing lined up perfectly square.
Welded all the way around.
The first of two pieces of 1/4″ bar welded to the bottom arm to serve as gussets.
Here is the second one welded in place. This will add rigidity to the bottom arm to deal with the weight of the bookcases.
The top mounting plate welded in place of frame #1. Then repeating the same steps on frame #2 as a mirror image.
The frames all done, with the swivel plates mounted. This shows the bottom plates.
This showes the top of the frames.
To keep everything straight, I labeled all the parts in the beginning.
During welding all the components in place, I checked several times to ensure that everything is in the right place. Check twice and weld once! š
Just some close ups of the top swivels.
And one of the bottom swivel. I’m glad it turned out the way it did!
